Collection page SEO checklist

Use this when category pages exist but bring in almost no search traffic, or before you create a new set of collections. Collection pages are where most commercial category demand lands, and most stores lose it in one of three ways: too many thin overlapping categories, a grid with no explanatory copy at all, or faceted navigation quietly generating thousands of near duplicate URLs.

Questions

Put a short orienting paragraph above the grid and the longer guidance below it. Shoppers came to see products, so do not push the grid off the first screen.

A small number can, where people genuinely search that way, for example a size or colour phrase. Indexing every combination creates near duplicates and wastes crawl budget.

Enough that a shopper feels they have a choice. Set a floor for your catalogue and keep smaller groupings as filters on a parent collection until stock supports a page.
