Luxury jewelry resale marketing agency: man looking at golden jewelry through a microscope.

How a pre-owned luxury piece gets bought, and where it came from

Pre-owned luxury jewelry is a store where every product sells exactly once. The inventory is one-of-one, the brand on the piece belongs to someone else, the shopper's first question is whether it is real, and the second is whether the condition photos are honest. Ad platforms scrutinise resellers for counterfeits and trademark use, Merchant Center wants the condition declared, and a sold piece leaves behind a page that still gets searched. On the other side of the business a separate audience wants to sell you their jewelry, and that supply funnel is as much a marketing job as the sales one.

We grow luxury jewelry resale stores that already sell online by working visitors, conversion rate, average order value and repeat purchases across buyers and sellers, with authentication and inventory turnover at the centre. The work starts with a free written growth plan built on your own inventory and order data, then a base fee plus growth share scoped in that plan.

The pre-owned luxury buyer is either hunting for a specific piece or open to a category. The hunter searches by house, collection and reference, has a price in mind from watching the market, and wants to be alerted when the piece appears. The browser searches by type and house, such as a signed gold bangle or a vintage cocktail ring, and is drawn by the price against what the piece would cost new, if it is still made at all.

Both ask the same questions before they pay. Is it authentic, and who checked. What is the condition, with the wear shown rather than hidden. Does it come with the original box, papers, receipt or certificate. Has it been polished, resized or restored, and by whom. What is the return policy on a piece that cannot be reordered. What happens if a specialist later disputes it. The store that answers with a named authentication process, honest macro photos of every mark, and a plain returns policy earns the order and the trust that brings the buyer back as a collector.

Supply is the other half. Sellers want a fast quote, a clear explanation of consignment against outright sale, insured shipping to you and a payout they can trust. Many of them are also buyers, trading up or across, which makes the sell-to-us funnel a source of both inventory and repeat customers. A store that treats sellers as marketing rather than operations keeps its shelves full.

Where luxury jewelry resale
lose revenue

The four levers, in this niche.

Visitors

Visitors: reference and house searches for buyers, quote searches for sellers

Resale demand searches by house, collection and reference for buyers and by 'sell my jewelry' and 'how much is my ring worth' for sellers. We build Shopping and search campaigns on the inventory with condition and provenance in the titles, keep within the trademark rules that apply to resellers, run social creative around the authentication process, and run a separate campaign that feeds the sell-to-us form.

Conversion rate

Conversion: authentication, condition and provenance on every listing

Resale listings convert when the authentication process is named on the page with who performed it, condition is graded and shown in macro photos of every mark, box and papers are listed as present or absent, restoration is disclosed, and the returns policy on a one-of-one piece is plain. We rebuild the listing template around those points and check it in your own conversion data.

Average order

Order value: the companion piece and the way to pay

Resale orders grow through pairing and payment. We show pieces from the same house or period beside the listing, offer instalments or layaway where you provide them with the terms stated on the page, and present appraisal documents, resizing and a service as options with the piece. A collector who sees the matching earrings for a pre-owned necklace often takes both.

Repeat purchases

Repeat purchases: saved searches, wanted lists and the trade-in

Resale customers come back when the piece they want appears and when they are ready to trade. We build saved-search alerts by house, reference and price, a wanted list that emails the customer when a match lands, and a trade-in flow that turns a past buyer into a seller and then a buyer again. New arrivals go to collectors first.

What we do for
luxury jewelry resale

Five channels, one plan.

Google Shopping and search

Google Shopping and search ads for inventory that sells once

Resale Shopping campaigns have to cope with a catalogue where every item is unique and disappears when it sells. The feed carries each piece with condition set to used, the original maker in the brand attribute, the reference or collection in the title, and the condition grade and box-and-papers status in the description, so a search for a specific reference finds the exact piece. Google's trademark policy has a reseller allowance that lets a store selling authentic goods use the maker's name in ad text when the landing page is dedicated to those goods, and we keep the ads and pages within it, because a complaint stops the account. Campaigns are grouped by house and price band, with a higher target for pieces that hold their value and turn quickly. Sold pieces are set to out of stock, not deleted, so the listing history survives. A separate search campaign targets seller queries and lands on the quote form. Campaigns are read on a window of a few weeks, since collectors decide fast when the right piece appears and slowly otherwise.

Meta and TikTok

Meta and TikTok ads that show the authentication, not just the piece

Pre-owned luxury on social sells on trust. The creative that works shows the authentication in progress: the hallmark under a loupe, the serial checked against the papers, the weight on the scale, the condition photographed mark by mark, the piece cleaned and boxed. New arrivals do well as short reveals with the house, the reference and the price on screen, sent to collectors first. We build catalogue ads from the live inventory with condition in the title, and because pieces sell once, we cap frequency and refresh the catalogue daily so an ad never shows a sold item. Retargeting shows the viewed piece while it is available and the nearest alternative once it has gone. Seller creative runs to a separate audience and explains the quote, the consignment choice and the insured shipping in plain terms. Platform rules on counterfeit goods apply to resellers, so the account keeps proof of authentication ready and never uses the maker's own imagery or campaign material.

Merchant Center and the feed

Merchant Center for pre-owned, one-of-one pieces

Resale feeds are built differently from a brand's. Condition is set to used on every pre-owned item, and refurbished where a piece has been professionally restored to that standard. Brand carries the original maker, not your store, and title carries the maker, the collection or reference, the material and the condition grade. Pieces with an original GTIN can carry it; most cannot, so identifier_exists is false with brand and your own MPN or stock number. Product_detail holds the year or period where known, the box-and-papers status, the size and any restoration. Each piece is its own item with no variants, and availability changes to out of stock the moment it sells, which means the feed must update from the store in near real time rather than on a daily schedule. Images are your own photographs of the actual piece on a clean background, with the hallmark and condition macros as additional images, never the maker's stock imagery. Return policy is set in Merchant Center. We build the feed from the store's inventory so it stays accurate as pieces come and go.

SEO and AI search

SEO and AI search: 'is it safe to buy pre-owned online' and the sold page problem

Resale search has two halves: the reference searches that find a piece, and the trust questions that decide whether to buy it. AI assistants are asked whether it is safe to buy pre-owned luxury jewelry online, how to tell if a signed piece is authentic, what box and papers means, whether a resized or polished piece is worth less, and how consignment works. We write those answers on the store in plain text with your own authentication process described step by step, next to the inventory, so an assistant can cite the store and a live piece. The sold-page problem is the other half. A sold piece keeps its page marked as sold, with the details intact, a link to similar available pieces and a wanted-list form, because searches for that reference continue for years and a 404 wastes them. Collection pages by house, type and period each carry a sentence about what is in them and how the pieces were authenticated. Listing pages are marked up with price, availability and condition.

Email and SMS

Email and SMS for collectors, wanted lists and sellers

The resale email programme runs on inventory movement. New arrivals go to collectors first, filtered by the houses and types they have bought or saved, with a short early-access window before the pieces go public, which is often when the best pieces sell. Saved searches and wanted lists send an alert the moment a match lands, and that alert is the highest-converting message the store sends. Browse and cart flows are short, because a one-of-one piece can go to someone else, and they restate the authentication, the condition and the returns terms rather than offering a discount. After delivery the flow covers care, insurance appraisal and the trade-in option. Sellers who requested a quote get a flow that explains consignment against outright sale, the insured shipping and the payout timeline, and sellers who sold get invited to buy with a credit where you offer one. SMS is reserved for wanted-list matches and delivery.

First three fixes

What the plan usually starts with for luxury jewelry resale.

  1. Sold pieces returning a 404

Keep the page live and marked sold with the details intact, a link to similar available pieces and a wanted-list form. Reference searches continue long after a piece has gone, and each one is a future buyer if the page catches them.

  2. Ads disapproved for trademark or counterfeit concerns

Keep the maker's name in ad text within the reseller allowance, land on pages dedicated to authentic pieces from that maker, use only your own photographs, and keep authentication records ready to submit. Never borrow the maker's imagery.

  3. Condition photos that flatter the piece

Photograph every mark, scratch and repair in macro and grade the condition against a published scale. A buyer who finds an undisclosed flaw returns the piece and tells everyone; one who saw it in the listing keeps it.

Questions from luxury jewelry resale

In the feed, the brand attribute should carry the original maker, and in ads Google's trademark policy has a reseller allowance for stores selling authentic goods whose landing page is dedicated to them. We keep the ads, pages and imagery within those rules and never use the maker's own campaign material.

Who authenticated the piece and how: the hallmark and serial checks, the weight and stone tests, the comparison with papers where present. Name the process on every listing and describe it in full on one page, so shoppers and AI assistants can see it.

Each piece is its own item with condition set to used, no variants, your own photographs and a stock number as the identifier. Availability must update from the store the moment a piece sells, so the feed runs in near real time rather than daily.

As a separate funnel: search ads on seller queries landing on a quote form, social creative that explains consignment and outright sale, and an email flow that walks through the insured shipping and payout. Many sellers become buyers, so the two lists talk to each other.

The piece they are waiting for. Saved searches and wanted lists by house, reference and price send an alert when a match lands, and collectors get new arrivals before the public. The trade-in flow turns past buyers into sellers and then buyers again.
